Two weeks into phones being illegal while driving there is an unexpected and super sucky side effect. Now every one has two hands to change lanes more aggressively. Seriously, people seem to think they are race car drivers now.
To me, this law is backwards. It's not the hand holding of my phone that is distracting, it's the conversation content. Hands-free just means that people will get distracted and passing drivers won't be able to pin-point the source of distraction. Plus, everyone now has an extra hand to further distract themselves with a third activity, cd fiddling, underwear adjusting, or often for me, map thrashing. I have no intention of pulling over each time I need to phone my destination for a location check. Besides, the best response to a cop pulling me over has been, an emphatic, "I'm SO glad you pulled me over, I am SO lost, can you help me?" Works every time.
